Is Ascend Skin Body Butter Worth Buying? My Honest Experience

By Leelian

I came across Ascend Skin Body Butter and liked the idea of having a moisturiser that would also leave my skin smelling like I’d applied cologne. The product pictures showed a rich, creamy body butter, and the fragrance claims made it even more appealing. Unfortunately, what I received was nothing like what I expected. The texture was oily and more like Vaseline than body butter, while the fragrance was so faint that I could barely notice it. I also had a disappointing experience when I contacted the company about getting my money back. Here’s what happened.

Why I Bought Ascend Skin Body Butter

I wanted something that would moisturise my skin while giving me a pleasant fragrance without having to apply body lotion and cologne separately. Ascend Skin seemed like a good option because that’s exactly what it advertised. The pictures showed a thick, creamy product, and the company made it sound like the fragrance would last for hours. I was particularly interested in getting that combination of soft, moisturised skin and a noticeable cologne scent. It looked like something worth trying, so I went ahead with the purchase.

My First Impressions of Ascend Skin Body Butter

When I finally got the product, I was disappointed by how different it looked from what I had seen in the pictures. I expected something thick and creamy, like traditional body butter, but the consistency was much thinner and oilier than I anticipated. It didn’t have that rich appearance I associated with the product from the advertising. Honestly, if I hadn’t known what I ordered, I would have struggled to identify it as the body butter shown on the website and Amazon listing.

Ascend Skin Body Butter Texture and Consistency

The texture was one of my biggest complaints. Instead of the rich body butter I expected, it felt like oily Vaseline with a little fragrance mixed in. Another buyer described receiving a watery version, which is also concerning because a product shouldn’t feel completely different from what its pictures and description lead customers to expect. I wasn’t looking for another ordinary oily moisturiser. I specifically wanted a proper body butter, and Ascend Skin didn’t give me that experience.

Does Ascend Skin Body Butter Have a Strong Fragrance?

The fragrance was another major disappointment. Ascend Skin advertises its products as scented body butters with cologne-inspired fragrances, so I expected something noticeable and pleasant. Instead, the smell was extremely faint. It reminded me more of basic body lotion than the cologne-like fragrance I was expecting. I also came across another buyer who ordered two Ascend Skin fragrances and complained that neither had any discernible scent. That’s particularly frustrating because the fragrance is a big part of what makes this product appealing in the first place. If I wanted an ordinary lotion with barely any smell, I could have bought something much cheaper.

Is Ascend Skin Body Butter Worth the Money?

For me, the product didn’t justify the purchase. I paid for something advertised as a rich, fragranced body butter, but what I received didn’t match that expectation. The oily consistency and barely noticeable fragrance made the whole experience disappointing. I also wouldn’t be comfortable recommending it based on the advertising alone, especially when other customers have raised similar concerns about what they received. When buying skincare online, I expect the product to at least resemble what is being shown and described. That wasn’t my experience with Ascend Skin.

My Experience with Ascend Skin Customer Service

Things became even more frustrating when I contacted the company about the product. I wasn’t happy with what I had received and wanted a refund, but getting a satisfactory response was not easy. Another buyer also complained about being ignored after contacting the company about two fragrances that had almost no scent. One customer specifically said their refund request wasn’t approved, even though the product they received looked nothing like the thick body butter shown in the advertisements. These experiences don’t exactly inspire confidence. When a customer pays for a product and receives something that doesn’t match the advertised description, the company should be willing to address the complaint rather than leave the buyer feeling ignored.

Final Verdict: I Wouldn’t Buy Ascend Skin Again

I wouldn’t buy Ascend Skin Body Butter again, and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience. I expected a rich body butter with a noticeable cologne fragrance, but what I got was an oily product with barely any scent. Having to chase customer service over a disappointing purchase made things even worse. I don’t see the point of spending money on a product that doesn’t live up to its advertising, especially when there are plenty of other moisturisers and fragrance products to choose from. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
